Stringing

Pianos must be tuned at least once a year by a qualified stringer-technician. When the piano is new, it may need to be tuned 2 or 3 times a year for the first few years to "lay". The same applies in cases of changing keys or in some old pianos that do not hold their strings due to loose keys, but which need to be replaced. The tuning is very important to hear the piano at the correct pitch (440Hz).

Stringing is a very special process and an extremely difficult job, where the stringer interacts directly with the instrument.

The main means by which we tune our pianos is by ear.

We also have at our disposal electronic and absolutely specialized stringing machines, as well as special piano stringing software, but these are used as adjuncts and in no case form the basis of the collection. But they are used in cases where the pianos have been unstrung for a long time and we "raise" them, or in cases of changing keys that require many successive strings.

In the final result, however, the work is done entirely by ear, bringing out the best from each piano.
